Clear & Fair Terms

We aim to be clear and fair. These terms explain what we do, what we don't, and what happens if something goes wrong.

No fine print: just the boundaries of a small archival service doing its best to treat your data (and you) with care.

Service Description

Permanent Memory provides professional M-DISC archival burning services. We transfer your digital files to M-DISC optical media using verified hardware and processes, including post-burn validation and file manifest generation.

Each disc is carefully labeled and placed in a protective case for archival storage, then shipped to your specified address.

Service Timeline & Process

Standard processing time is 7–14 days after you provide access to your files. Rush service is not currently offered.

Timeline includes:

  • • File download
  • • M-DISC burning with verified hardware
  • • Post-burn targeted validation
  • • Disc labeling and protective packaging
  • • Shipping to your address

Processing may take longer during peak periods or for large collections exceeding 500GB.

Refund & Return Policy

Each disc is custom-made and verified before shipment. Because of the personalized and irreversible nature of the service, refunds are limited and issued at our discretion.

We Offer Refunds For:

  • • Your disc is physically damaged in transit
  • • A verified burn error or checksum mismatch occurs within 7 days of delivery
  • • We fail to fulfill your order as agreed (e.g., missing disc, mismatched disc content)

Refunds Not Guaranteed If:

  • • You change your mind after processing begins
  • • You approved the file snapshot and later request changes
  • • You submitted corrupted or unreadable files

To Request a Refund:

To be eligible for a refund or replacement, you must return the original disc and case to us. Return shipping is the customer's responsibility unless the issue was our fault.

Email us at hello@permanentmemory.com within 7 days of delivery. Include your order ID and a description of the issue. We typically respond within 1 business day.

Cancellation Policy

Orders may be cancelled before file processing begins for full refund minus payment processing fees (typically 3.5%).

Once file processing begins, cancellation may result in partial charges for work completed. Contact us by email to discuss cancellation options.

Data Privacy & Security

Your files are encrypted during transfer and permanently deleted from our systems within 24 hours after delivery. Files are only accessed by scripts to compute hashes and generate verification manifests. We do not manually open, read, or analyze your content.

Shipping & Delivery

Currently, we only ship within the continental United States via USPS Priority Mail with tracking included.

Orders over $100 include basic shipping insurance at no extra cost. International shipping may be available in the future.

Once your order ships and tracking is provided, risk of loss transfers to the carrier. We are not responsible for delays, loss, or damage in transit, but we'll do our best to help you resolve any shipping issues.

Your Responsibilities

You are responsible for the content you provide. We do not view or inspect file contents, but you agree not to submit:

  • • Illegal content or material that violates export laws
  • • Copyrighted content you do not own or have permission to archive
  • • Malicious software or viruses

Maximum file collection size is 1TB per order. Larger collections require consultation and may incur additional fees.

Warranty & Liability

All discs are tested for readability before shipping. If your disc arrives damaged or unreadable, contact us within 7 days and we'll work to make it right.

Our liability is limited to re-burning your disc or refunding the original service fee. While M-DISC is built for long-term durability, all physical media can be affected by handling, environmental conditions, or age. We strongly recommend keeping backup copies of any critical data.

Terms Updates
